It's Monday again, and that means dinner with my sweet friends :) Tonight we did grilled chicken salads. Simple, healthy, and delicious! After dinner we headed outside for some baseball and lightning bug fun with Riley!

Itsy Bitsy Spider experiment!
This week continues nursery rhymes at school and I am still doing math and science, so I asked my kids "Why don't spider's stick to their own webs?" They came up with silly answers, but then I explained that spiders have a special oil on their legs that prevents them from getting stuck. To prove my point, I gave each child a sheet of contact paper and had them walk their fingers across it like a bug. They of course stuck! I then had each child dip their fingers in olive oil and try walking their fingers across the contact paper again. This time the oil prevented them from sticking, like a spider. :) They love getting their hands messy and I love hands on teaching, so this was super fun!

Delicious Bakery and Papaw visit!
My Papaw is in a nursing home and though we don't go visit as often as I'd like, I love love love going to see him...especially watching him and Riley. They are very sweet. My Papaw has Alzheimer's and it absolutely terrifies me...part of the reason we don't go as much as I'd like to. It is such a scary, awful thing. It happened over night and it continues to worsen, but he does know our entire family and our names. He tends to forget where he is and what year it is. He asks almost every day "Where is Ellen?" My Mamaw passed years ago from cancer and he has to realize that every day. It is heartbreaking.
Papaw is a lovely person. He is always a joy to be around, whether he knows where he is or not. He is always pleasant, always kind, and LOVES his family more than anything. <3
